The genus Caulorhiza (Agaricales): its phylogenetic placement, notes on two species and the status of Baeospora s.l.

Abstract
Based on molecular analyses of recent collections of Caulorhiza species, namely C. umbonata (the type species) and C. hygrophoroides, the genus is here placed within the family Cyphellaceae. A large Baeospora clade is recognized, including C. umbonata, which is resolved as sister to Baeospora, and C. hygrophoroides, which is sister to Pleurella ardesiaca. Agaricus hygrophoroides is shown to be a priority synonym of Hebelomina microspora (≡ Pleurella microspora). Adopting a conservative taxonomic approach, the genera Caulorhiza and Pleurella are synonymized with Baeospora, and three new combinations are therefore proposed.

Sulla base di analisi molecolari di recenti collezioni di specie di Caulorhiza, in particolare C. umbonata (la specie tipo) e C. hygrophoroides, il genere è qui collocato all'interno della famiglia Cyphellaceae. Viene riconosciuto un ampio clade di Baeospora, che include C. umbonata, che è risolta come sorella di Baeospora, e C. hygrophoroides, che è sorella di Pleurella ardesiaca. Agaricus hygrophoroides si dimostra essere un sinonimo prioritario di Hebelomina microspora (≡ Pleurella microspora). Adottando un approccio tassonomico conservativo, i generi Caulorhiza e Pleurella sono sinonimizzati con Baeospora e vengono quindi proposte tre nuove combinazioni.
