Pseudosperma equestre sp. nov. (Inocybaceae): A Mediterranean species associated with Quercus ilex from Sardinia

Abstract

Abstract
The new species Pseudosperma equestre from Sardinia, Italy, is described based on morphological characters and nrITS/nrLSU sequence data. It was collected in a Mediterranean habitat in association with Quercus ilex. The morphological and molecular differences between the newly described species and closely related taxa are also discussed. The study is accompanied by color photographs illustrating its macro- and micromorphological features of the species and a phylogenetic tree showing the phylogenetic placement between the new species and other species of the genus Pseudosperma.

Riassunto
La nuova specie Pseudosperma equestre proveniente dalla Sardegna, Italia, viene descritta sulla base di caratteri morfologici e dati di sequenze nrITS/nrLSU. La specie è stata raccolta in un habitat mediterraneo in associazione con Quercus ilex. Vengono inoltre discusse le differenze morfologiche e molecolari tra il nuovo taxon e le specie strettamente correlate. Lo studio è corredato da fotografie a colori che illustrano le caratteristiche macro- e micromorfologiche della specie e da un albero filogenetico che ne mostra la posizione all’interno del genere Pseudosperma.
